WOOOOO!!!
Yet another dumb term has become popular!
Being into comic books, liking LOTR, playing pokemon or wearing glasses does not make you a nerd, it makes you mainstream as these are ordinary interest today.
This is the definition of a nerd:
Nerd (adjective: nerdy) is a descriptive term, often used pejoratively, indicating that a person is overly intellectual, obsessive, or socially impaired. They may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, obscure, or non-mainstream activities.
Does this apply to say, Michelle Phan? NO IT DOES NOT!
Embracing your childhood interests is accepted nowadays and even encouraged! Sci-fi, comic-books and cosplaying has never been more popular than it is today, and thus is NOT an unpopular, non-mainstream activity anymore!
So unless you are overly obsessive over another unpopular subject, or is a super intellectual and socially impaired person - YOU ARE NOT A NERD.
Hearing a Victoria's Secret model with fake glasses say she is a nerd makes me gag in my mouth, please stop.
Ugh.
